Successfully completing this objective allows players to upgrade their tools and expand their exploration capabilities across the valley.
How to Unlock A Dark Experiment Quest
Before you can begin this magical undertaking, you must meet a few specific requirements within your game world. Players need to increase their friendship level with Merlin to level eight and ensure the Glade of Trust biome is fully unlocked. Once these conditions are met, speaking with the wizard will officially trigger the start of the mission.
Merlin will explain that he is working on a special enchantment to upgrade your Royal Watering Can. This enhancement is crucial for clearing out the large, stubborn mushrooms blocking paths in the valley. Gathering the necessary materials requires exploring multiple biomes and collecting various rare resources.
Gathering the Required Magical Ingredients
The first set of items Merlin requests consists of twenty Mushrooms, which can be found growing naturally on the ground in the Glade of Trust. Additionally, you must collect five Emeralds by mining black rock veins found along the cliffs of the Forest of Valor or the Glade of Trust. Finally, the wizard requires ten pieces of Purified Night Shards to power his experiment.
Crafting the Purified Night Shards requires combining regular Night Shards and Dream Shards at any crafting station. Once you have successfully amassed all of these ingredients, return to Merlin to hand them over for his mystical research. He will use them to craft the special ointment needed for the tool modification.
Applying the Upgrade and Claiming Your Rewards
After receiving the crafted upgrade from Merlin, enter your inventory screen to apply the enhancement directly to your Royal Watering Can. This newly upgraded tool allows you to dissolve the large fungal growths that previously restricted your movement. Merlin will then ask you to test your improved tool on a few specific mushroom patches nearby.
Clearing the designated obstacles will successfully conclude the quest and grant you valuable experience points. You will also earn a significant boost to your overall friendship standing with Merlin, bringing you closer to unlocking his final character rewards. The newfound ability to clear large mushrooms also opens up permanently blocked areas containing hidden treasure chests.
