Raya Lucaria Academy stands as one of the most prominent landmarks in Elden Ring, housing powerful sorceries and essential story encounters. Finding this grand institution and gaining access to its locked halls requires traveling through the wetland region of Liurnia of the Lakes. Players seeking to defeat Rennala and unlock respec capabilities must first figure out how to pass through the magical barrier surrounding the gates.
Locating Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia
The academy is situated directly in the center of Liurnia of the Lakes, elevated high above the surrounding waters on a massive rock structure. You can easily spot its towering spires from almost anywhere in the region as you travel north from Limgrave. Reaching the base of the structure simply requires riding through the shallow lake until you reach the main approach staircases.
Finding the Academy Glintstone Key
Entering the academy requires a special item known as the Academy Glintstone Key to break the seal on the blue magical gates. The main gate provides a map clue pointing to a small island located just west of the academy structure. Adventurers must travel to this island reef, where the key rests behind a sleeping Glintstone Dragon named Smarag.
How to Safely Retrieve the Key
You do not need to slay the dragon to acquire the key needed to open the barrier. Players can carefully sneak behind the sleeping beast on horseback and grab the item off a corpse leaning against the rocks. Once the key is in your inventory, you can quickly ride away or use fast travel to return to the main entrance gates.
Unlocking the Gates and Entering the Academy
With the Academy Glintstone Key in hand, return to either the South Raya Lucaria Gate or the Main Academy Gate. Interact with the blue magical seal to consume the key's charge and teleport inside the legacy dungeon. From there, you can begin exploring the courtyards, rooftops, and grand libraries that make up this iconic magical stronghold.
